I've divided it into three different activities (above) and three different roles (below) but there is a lot of crossover and life doesn't fall neatly into compartments. At least not for me!
I love my work and care deeply about making the world a better place with the creativity and joy that the performing arts can bring. The root meaning of the word 'entertainment' is 'to stretch within' and I like to think that that is what I do as an artist and performer and also what I enable other people to do as an educator and trainer in creative movement and theatre."
My choreography ideas are born in relation to everything that surrounds me and that is in me; developed through contact with inspired people, stories and dreams. At the same time they are influenced by the history, geography and architecture of the performance locations and of course, the dancers themselves – whether they be professional or participants in a community project. I recently returned to acting with parts in two films made by my husband Iwan Brioc.
My most sustained period of work was with the Kuguars Theatre Company, touring throughout the 90's with comedy and political satire to popular acclaim.
I paid my rep dues with the Yugoslav Drama Theatre and the National Yugoslav Theatre before that playing parts in modern plays by international as well as Balkan playwrights.
My most recent acting role was in the film 'Posledjni Cas' (The Last Class). The true story of a a teacher struggling to teach human rights to a class in a country where violence in the classroom is common. Read more...
As Associate Educator with the Centre for Drama in Education and Arts in Belgrade since 2001 I became very experienced in using drama as a tool for empowerment and awareness, setting up my own NGO (RAFT) to extend the work to communities internationally.
