Love From Lola Pattern Hack: Wrap and Knot Headband

Looking for a last minute hair accessory? Use your leftover fabric scraps and the belt pattern piece from the Off Center Dress pattern to create a cute knotted headband!

Follow along as Laura from Love From Lola shows us how to use her Off Center Dress pattern to create a cute knotted headband that will give that extra finishing touch to any outfit! This cute headband perfectly compliments the Rockabetty dress, and this tutorial can also be found as a bonus within that pattern.

Let's get started...(Click on the image or the link above to find the pattern on aleksandrajones.)

Materials Needed:

  • Belt pattern piece from the Off Center Dress
  • Scrap paper
  • Ruler
  • ¼ yard fabric (light to mid weight cotton fabric is suggested)

To Begin:

1. You will need the belt pattern piece from the Off Center Dress

2. Tape a piece of scrap paper to the end of the belt.

3. Mark 1 inch from the end of the belt. Now draw lines along the edges to
match the edges of the belt. Finally mark your pattern to be cut on the fold.

4. Cut out your new pattern piece.

5. Placing your new pattern piece on the fold of your fabric, cut out
two identical pieces.

6. Right sides together pin the headband pieces together. Stitch around leaving a 3 inch opening as shown.

7. Clip the curves and turn right side out through the opening. Turn the raw edges of the opening under ¼ inch to the inside. Press.

8. Pin the opening closed, and topstitch around the entire length of the headband.  Alternately you could just whipstitch the opening closed by hand.

9. Wrap around your dolls head and tie a knot at the top.  Congratulations! Your headband is finished!

Your pattern pics are great. One can look at the pattern picture and draw a template and then make the headband. Easy!

Thank you for the headband tutorial, but I don’t think I’ll be spending €5.00 for a pattern just to get the pattern piece for the belt🙁
