My favorite sewing tip is when sewing for dolls, dial your stitch length to 20 or more stitches per inch. You will have much more control over the little pieces and this works very well for necklines and collars. Much smoother results.

My favorite tip is to organize—don’t waste precious sewing time hunting for patterns! I use acid-free sheet protector pouches to hold patterns and put them in three-ring binders labeled “dresses”, “historical”, “coats/jackets”, etc. You can readily see the name of the pattern printed on the pieces, but you can include a picture of the garment or a print-out of the simplified direction sheets to label each pouch. Much easier to find items than loose baggies in storage boxes or drawers. You can cut a 1" strip from the top-front of each protector pouch; then use a ruler as a straight-edge on the remaining top-back strip to form a sharp crease forward to fold down as a tab to seal the pouch.

My favorite sewing tip or trick is not really a trick , read the instructions and study the layout for the pattern. Be sure to snip around curves so that the fabric will lie smooth when turned.

So many wonderful tips – thank you again Cinnamon for your generosity & allowing us to share such useful info. My tip is like many I like to pre-cut projects & place in zip bags thinking I would know EXACTLY which project it was – Ha! Now I use the snipping tool, pull up the pdf of the pattern & snip the picture, copy & paste in a blank word doc then type the name of the project. I fill up a whole page with different projects then cut them apart and place the corresponding one in the zip bag with the fabric. When I have completed the project the little snipped pics go back with the original pattern. I hope you can understand what I am doing it sounds more complicated than it is. You could also do copy & paste then trim off parts of the pics you don’t need. Happy Sewing!

my tip is if you use wonder clips and run out or need a cheaper alternative, you can use those metal hair clips that ‘snap’ when bent to open and close. Can buy them in bulk for next to nothing and hold patterns or fabrics together nicely and you just slid them off as you are sewing. (Hope that all made sense lol)
